Hosting a Local
School
Green Grass Field Trips are the culminating
activity of the Callaway Golf in Schools program. They serve as an opportunity for NGCOA Canada
members to bring golf alive with a real world golf experience.
By hosting these half-day field trips,
students will be given the opportunity to learn:
-
Course etiquette
-
Clubhouse process
-
How to book a tee time
-
Elements of a golf hole
-
Course operations (range, 1st tee etc.)
The only goal of this first trip is to
ensure that students feel comfortable in the golf environment, NOT on skill development.
What to
Expect
Hosting a school field trip should be a
simple process for both the local school and course.
Expectations of
the Course
The GAO and Callaway Golf in Schools are
asking the local course to:
-
Provide one staff person to lead the trip (should be CPGA, but not mandatory)
-
Communicate course footwear and attire policies to the school
-
Follow curriculum provided by the GAO
- Allow
at least 1 trip per local school, if possible

Expectations of
the School
The GAO and Callaway Golf in Schools expects
the local school to:
-
Arrange transportation logistics
- Pay
for transportation
-
Ensure parental permission forms are collected for each student
-
Ensure students have proper attire in line with course policy including
footwear
-
Provide 2 trip supervisors, including one staff member
-
Contact course representative to arrange for trip date and details.
Role of the
Golf Association of Ontario
The GAO and Callaway Golf in Schools
will:
-
Provide the course with school contact information
-
Provide the school with the course contact information
-
Provide the trip curriculum or lesson plan to both parties
-
Provide support, including signage and necessary media content.
Note: We encourage courses to develop an ongoing relationship
with these local schools to help support their new commitment to golf. We also encourage courses to provide
further golf experiences and follow-ups to their first field trip.
Your registration is also an
opportunity to tell us about your course, which will help us form a "Course Friendly" list.
The first of its kind, the "Course Friendly
List" will provide parents, kids and golfers of all abilities the resource to find a friendly golf course in
their area with just one click.
