REGISTRATION
Q: Why should I
register our school?
A: Simply because
it’s more than a game. Golf will give your students an opportunity to learn valuable life-skills and a game
that will keep them active for a life-time. Whether your staff plays golf or
not, our Canadian PGA instructors will provide effective training for your teachers coupled with
comprehensive curriculum. Callaway Golf in Schools curriculum is innovative and creative in lesson delivery
and focuses on skill development, character building and increased physical activity.
Q: How can I register
our school?
A: To register for the
Callaway Golf in Schools program, simply fill out the on-line registration form.
Note: To register, you must
be an elementary school and must list a twin-school that will sign-up together.
Q: Why do I need a twin
school?
A: Schools will have shared use of Stick to Golf equipment with their twin school. Therefore the program
can provide more schools with the opportunity to register.
Q: What is the cost to
register in the program?
A: Callaway
Golf in Schools is committed to ensuring all schools are reached. Therefore, a nominal, ONE TIME fee of $350
is charged to each participating school, to off-set the cost of the equipment and professional training. If
your school cannot afford this fee, we will work to ensure your school can register and
participate.
Note: All Ontario schools can
submit a registration form for this program. If your school is not
K-8 please indicate that on the registration form or contact the
Golf Association of Ontario.
Q: What is included in
my school’s registration?
A: All schools will receive the following for registration in the program: Full day teacher training session
of Mr. Knickers & Friends & Stick to Golf; Shared use of 'Stick to Golf'
equipment (junior grades); Use of Snag golf
equipmrades); One School Cruiser Clinic visit,
in fall or spring; One Green Grass Field Trip;
NCCP Community Sport
training; Access to
'teachers only' section of the website.
SCHOOL TRAINING
Q: What is school
training?
A: School training
is the training of your teachers with the equipment and program curriculum.
Q: When can we book the
training?
A: School training
begins in early November and runs through March. Your regional Instructor team will forward available dates
to book on a first come first served basis.
Q: Who provides this
training?
A: The GAO has hired and trained Canadian PGA members in Ontario to facilitate this training session for
schools. The Instructors are in teams of two and have been given a certain region to cover.
Note: All Instructors have
a criminal and vulnerable reference check.
Q: What is needed from
a school standpoint to facilitate this training?
A: The Instructors
will need the gym to facilitate the training sessions and communication to teachers of the training component
of that day.
Q: How does the
training work?
A: Teacher training is a full-day session and the gym is required for the entire school
day.
It’s important to note,
that the training is done with a class.
Q: How do I arrange my
class schedule for that day?
A: When scheduling your classes, please keep in mind training is for primary and junior
classes.
Grades 1-2 – Sessions are
30 minutes long
Grades 3+ - Sessions are 45
minutes
Large schools(3 or more classes of each
grade)
If you have an overly large
school, it would be suggested to have 1 teacher from each grade trained and they can in turn train
others. Ideal class
schedule – Primary classes in the morning and junior grades in the afternoon.
***Our team will make every
effort to work with your schools needs.***
