As students enter into grade 8 and the final step of the Callaway Golf in Schools program, it is time for them to complete the golf experience with step four Green Grass Field Trips.

Program Outline

Green Grass Field Trips are the final step of the Callaway Golf in Schools program designed for Grade 8 students. These half-day tours are facilitated at a local par-3 or regulation golf courses in conjunction with the National Golf Course Owners Association and program sponsor ClubLink. The school is responsible for the transportation of the students to and from the facility and the Golf Association of Ontario will take care of the rest!

The golf course tour will consist of the following,

  • *  An introductory Meet & Greet (Golf Course Etiquette)

  • *  Clubhouse/Pro Shop Tour.  Pro shop - go through set of clubs, booking tee times, pro shop accessories, scorecard.  Clubhouse – food and beverage, locker rooms etc.

  • *  Tour of a hole (if possible).  Water hazards, out of bounds, green, tee, tee blocks, rough, where to stand when players hit etc.

  • *  Fun Skills.

The objective of the Green Grass Field trip is to create a relationship between the schools and golf courses, for program support and to encourage future field trips to foster the Golf in Schools Program in your school.

Instructors

Certified Ontario PGA Professionals are involved in every step of the Callaway Golf in Schools program including Green Grass Field Trips. Using the CN Future Links manual, instructors will introduce new skills and fun games that will sustain interest and address improvement.

Next Steps

The Callaway Golf in Schools program is 'helping kids get on course,' and that's where we would like your students to be headed. Whether they participate in a CN Future Links camp or clinic, get a lesson from an Ontario PGA Professional or just play for fun, they are on the path to life-long activity and a well lived life.
